Reliquary Piece
While remodeling my daughter's bedroom 15 years ago, I came across a piece of news paper stuffed in the wall. It read 30 Negros for Sale in Scottsville, VA, 1848 . As I held the news paper , the realization of what happened became more real. Holding this paper took me back to that terrible time.
Even more Scottsville is where I live now. WOW! This year as I thought about a new piece I revisited the news paper which I saved. Here is what I created. A large framed panel, 54 in. x 44 in.
covered in lead. The writing is sandblasted into the lead. A cross which is 2.5 in deep and covered in lead, houses the paper surrounded by raw cotton. I used non-glare glass to seal everything air tight. The cross is framed in a gold rope frame of wood. I really love this piece and dedicate it with love and respect to all those who suffered. Benita's Table
I just finished a table for my youngest daughter Benita. 400 lbs. of steel, bronze and wood.
The glass top is 55 in x 19 in x 3/4 in thick and weighs 100 lbs.
This was a complete surprise and we had an unveiling at Focus Gallery in Scottsville, VA.
Benita was surprised. As an Artist these are the pieces I am most excited about.

Robert Strini sculpture piece removed from crate after 41 years.
In my new building which I built after my fire, I have decided to use it as a exhibition space for my art. I have a small barn about 300 yards from this space that I use for construction of my sculpture.
I wanted to exhibit some old sculpture so I opened a crate after 41 years and was surprised at what I saw. This is Sherdian Piece, built in 1973 at a work shop in Canada. I love this piece and it was in remarkable shape. Made of laminated ash, oak and maple, the piece is in good shape with no cracks or separations in the wood. During this time I built good crates to house my work. Let me know your thoughts.
Thank You, Robert Strini

The Package
Loss of something you care for and how
you deal with it is what this piece is about.
The I -beam, a symbol of strength supports
the weight of all the memories of the loss.
the weight of all the memories of the loss.
The mattress becomes the final resting place
of these memories. Other objects are simply
references to specific moments you had with
your loss. Finally the marble X, marks the
spot, the end, and the moment of letting go.

Walking from the Moon to the Sun, a table for friends
The table is 8 feet long x 35 inches tall x 17 inches deep. Completely made of plate steel and supporting two convex glass mirrors which represent the moon and the sun. A comet is made of birds eye maple wood. Good friends asked me to make a simple glass table for their entrance hall of their new house.
The problem is that one night I had a dream that I was walking through space and I had to create this table. My creative energy was flowing. The figure represents me. I have used this image in several
self-portrait pieces in the past. Please look at the following images.

Wedding Table built by Robert Strini

My daughter Lucia Strini was just married and I built this wedding table for her. The image of her father holding the moon which is a convex mirror so she can say Goodnight Moon.
This is from a book of the same name that I read to her as a child. Fathers hold their daughters tight is from a war poem Lucia wrote when she was 14. All the black is 3/8 inch steel and the gold color is bronze. The blue tubing forms represent the night sky. 54 inches wide x 17 inches deep x 35 inches tall.
